Quickly Implementing a Student Housing Solution

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill needed to quickly switch from their old legacy housing software to the StarRez student housing solution, and effectively train staff and integrate with a range of campus systems including integration with PeopleSoft and Shibboleth Single Sign On.

  • Quickly implement and train staff to utilize a new housing system that can continually be expanded to include additional functionality.

  • UNC implemented StarRez and conducted returning room selection process in under 90 days.
  • Efficiently completed room selection with minimal staff resources while over 1,200 students participated in room selection each hour.
  • Consolidated Housing and Conferences into one system, allowing UNC to accurately analyze occupancy and revenue.
  • Enabled UNC to train over 400 student staff members on the system leveraging the easy-to-use StarRez Staff tools.
  • Empowered students via the student self-service tools, especially the easy-to-use online room and roommate selection.
  • Provided tools that allow the housing administrative staff to efficiently manage housing processes with less time required, which allowed the team to focus on other departmental priorities.
  • Allowed UNC to create processed based on their needs and instead of the technological limitations of the system dictating processes.
