University of Utah Online Self-Service
The University of Utah, founded in 1850, was on the world
stage as host of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The campus
housing provides accommodation of both traditional residence
halls and apartments (including family housing), housing 2500
residents on campus. Residents have a wide range of living
learning communities and dining meal plan choices.
During the third quarter of 2005, the housing department began
its exhaustive search for a robust and feature rich housing
system that could provide important staff access tools including
user friendly reporting, along with a more intuitive and streamlined
student self service process for online applications, roommate
searching & messaging, real-time room selections, online accounts
& payments and online contract signature. The University also
required a wide range of integration with the campus admissions,
financial, dining and security systems. StarRez was identified
as the partner that could meet these complex needs and successfully
went live in December 2005. The go live change over from the
previous system to the new system included complete data conversion
of information in the previous system.
